Utilization of waste plum stones as a source of oil and catalyst for biodiesel production

چکیده
Possibilities of using waste plum stones in biodiesel production were investigated. The kernels used as a source to obtain oil by the Soxhlet extraction method, while whole stones, stone shells that remained after crashing, and kernel cake extraction, burned off ashes. collected ashes characterized elemental composition, porosity, base strength tested for catalytic activity transesterification esterified oil. Dominant elements potassium, calcium, magnesium at different contents three obtained most active catalyst was shell ash, so effect temperature (40, 50, 60?C) on reaction rate constant increased with activation energy value 58.8 kJ mol-1. In addition, ash can be reused recalcination.

Transesterification of Waste Cooking Oil for Biodiesel Production Using Modified Clinoptilolite Zeolite as a Heterogeneous Catalyst
Reduction of fossil fuels sources, increasing of pollution gases emission, and global warming effects increase the demand of renewable fuels. One of the main candidates of alternative fuels is biodiesel. Biodiesel limits greenhouse gas effects due to the closed CO2 cycle. Biodiesel has more biodegradability, lower combustion emissions such as CO, SOx, HC, PM and lower toxicity than petro diesel...

Waste Cooking Oil as an Alternate Feedstock for Biodiesel Production
As crude oil price reach a new high, the need for developing alternate fuels has become acute. Alternate fuels should be economically attractive in order to compete with currently used fossil fuels. In this work, biodiesel (ethyl ester) was prepared from waste cooking oil collected from a local restaurant in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Ethyl alcohol with sodium hydroxide as a catalyst was use...
متن کاملFinancial Feasibility Study of Waste Cooking Oil Utilization for Biodiesel Production Using ANFIS
Consumption of fuel oil is increasing, but it is not accompanied by supply. Transportation sector is spent the most existing fuel. Therefore, it is crucial to look for alternative type of fuel such as biodiesel to overcome the fuel shortage. The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility on how the investment of waste cooking oil as the biodiesel material production. This study con...
متن کاملBiodiesel production from soybean oil using ionic liquid as a catalyst in a microreactor
In the present study, Choline hydroxide (ChOH) as an ionic liquid catalyst was used for transesterification of soybean oil into biodiesel in a microchannel reactor. The effects of three variables i.e. reaction temperature, catalyst dosage and total flow rate on fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) content (wt. %) were optimized using Box–Behnken experimental design. In order to predict the FAME conte...
